The malleability of oil paint has allowed me to express, in a more fluid way, certain memories or sensations of places, but also certain historical paintings, which have remained as a residue of hues in my memory.

About the Artist

Portrait of artist Arantxa Solis.

With a background in architecture, Mexico City-based artist Arantxa Solis (b. 1990) began her painting practice with representational studies of landscapes and the human form, which have since evolved into an exploration of pure color, light, and volume. Her paintings are a continuous experiment in chromatic gradation, engaging viewers through subtle tonal shifts and fluid compositions. She carefully observes the natural world, distilling its forms and nuances into sensory abstractions that evoke memory and emotion. The interplay of color in her work extends beyond the canvas, fostering a dialogue with its surroundings. Working exclusively with oil paint applied by brush, Arantxa embraces the medium’s malleability to create contemplative compositions that invite viewers into a world of vibrant yet ephemeral horizons.
