About the Artist

New York and Seville, Spain-based Carmen Vela (b. 1983) is a mixed-media artist whose work explores image-making, space and time. By combining drawing, collage, photography and digital manipulation, Carmen's work probes the physical and conceptual properties of assemblage and photo-based images. Through this experimentation, Carmen's work acts as an ongoing dialogue seeking to investigate the relationship between the real and the constructed.
