About the Artist
Gizem Vural (b. 1988) is a New York-based artist and illustrator. Her work is a dance between representation and abstraction, consciousness and unconsciousness, using colored pencils to bring to life compositions that are both delicate and profound. Her process begins during walks in nature, where she photographs the subtle interplay of light with various parts of plants: their tissues, structures, texture, and form. These moments of natural beauty and their uncontrolled environment serve as the foundation for her abstract drawings.
