I weave together ribbons of color, shapes, shadows, and lines, layering molding paste and paint to create dynamic, vibrant surfaces that balance pattern and chaos.
About the Artist
Keri Kimura (b. 1987) is a painter based in Manset, Maine, whose work explores color, chaos, pattern, and time. Rooted in an intuitive process, her practice has been shaped by a childhood spent in a family that sewed everything - from clothing and costumes to quilts and everything in between. In her paintings, Keri weaves together a patchwork of pigment, layering shapes that echo the logic of fabric construction. Much like how a sleeve is cut from a pattern to fit an arm (initially an abstract form that later conforms to the body), her compositions function as a kind of geometric shorthand, evoking structure and movement. She approaches painting as a way to compress multi-dimensional moments into the flatness of the picture plane, distilling experience into a visual language that honors both the women of her past and the fleeting nature of the present.
