Influenced by her Panamanian and Venezuelan upbringing, Lucha’s knife drawings are inspired by the flora, fauna, and vegetation that provide the raw materials for traditional crafts. The gilded and captivating shimmer of her metallic paper reinforces the exalted status of these invaluable natural resources.

I believe this collection is a way of expressing values and customs of my cultural heritage more universally but at the same time preserving the typical and autochthonous touches of the region where I was born.

These works are a representation of that sense of getting lost in shiny objects and finding yourself suddenly in a labyrinth of new realities and identities to be explored. Just as the carving technique and manipulation of the material, your mind also opens up in various directions to guide you to new frontiers of self-discovery.
