- Meet
Bryce Anderson
Australian artist Bryce Anderson tells us about the power of pictures and how chance is the great equalizer.
Chance has played a significant role at different stages of my practice. For example, using gravity to determine the composition of a work by dropping cut-outs onto paper and fixing them where they land, or rolling a die to determine the sequence in which a series of works are installed.
About the Artist
Bryce Anderson (b. 1991) is a Melbourne, Australia-based artist who explores the fluid potential of images through painting and collage, recontextualizing found materials into dynamic new constellations. His work engages with visual content from popular culture and art history, challenging conventional distinctions between figuration and abstraction. By weaving together disparate references ranging from still-life motifs to geometric compositions, Bryce examines authorship, chance, and reproduction. His practice creates environments where images from different eras and contexts converge, questioning their enduring significance in contemporary art.
